The settlement journey is a booklet that describes the process that refugees and migrants progress through to gain Australian residency and citizenship. This book highlights a selection of individuals and families who have come from extraordinary poverty and disadvantage often from countries destroyed by war. These people have made the transition into modern Australian society, learning our language, customs and laws. These people have achieved success because Australia gave them a place to call home and a launchpad for, education and a better life.
My involvement was to design, typeset and manage the procurement and printing of the publication. My inspiration came from the fact that most migrants often arrive in Australia with just one suitcase, I therefore designed the cover to be reminiscent of an old suitcase with the luggage tag cut out to reveal the title of the publication from the title page.
