The idea behind Arena TV’s style guide was to provide the style guide to fit in a CD jewel case with the logo files stored on CD – you know, back in the old days before FTP was a thing.

My inspiration for this design spawned from the on-air channel IDs that took viewers on a journey through the channel and its genres. I interpreted the visual style guide to be the passport for users using the Arena TV brand and wrote the content to make it relevant for its primary audience – designers and marketers.

Designed using DCS2.0 colour space as a result of the original logo design being created for television in RGB colour space using 3DS Max and photoshop textures. One of the key issues I faced with this project was replicating the lilac colour of the logo from on air in printed materials. The solution? DCS2.0 colour space. Using the supplied logo from a pre-matted targa file I was able to duplicate colour channels and apply PMS colours that when overlayed over each other the colour from the on-air (RGB colour space) was replicated in print format. However this was unfortunately unable to be replicated in CMYK to the same effect and was only applied for high end projects due to the expense. To this day this was probably the most technically challenging print design project I've worked on and is an example of the way that I work to ensure that what I produce captures the essence of both company brands that I work with and work to ensure that I make the most of difficult situations when faced with them.
